With the recent release of Visual Studio 2013 RC (which includes, by the way a “Go-Live” license) this issue with Visual Studio 2013 Preview has probably been overtaken by events. I’ll leave this here anyway as a historical footnote.
How’s this? Tonight I fired up the VM I installed the Visual Studio 2013 Preview into last month, only to be greeted with this when firing up an instance:
It’s only been installed since August 3rd, 2013 (today is September 6th, 2013) – meaning that the “Prerelease License” was only good for a month. I’m sorry, but for a beta/pre-release, that’s pretty stingy. I would have expected at least a 90 day trial, before being forced into using an account.
I’m not very happy about this direction.
You might think, is this such a bad thing (and yes, it is)? Well, perhaps I don’t have the Internet connected to all my machines (particularly my sandbox environments):
Even after signing in, it seems there’s a need for a persistent connection;
